simply music piano
At Cowichan Valley Piano Studio, we are excited to offer piano lessons using the Simply Music method. Everyone
has the potential to learn to play the piano, share and enjoy music making. Imagine a world where anyone and everyone can express themselves through music. It is an honour for Cowichan Valley Piano Studio to play a part in bringing this dream to fruition.
Experience simply music
Experience your natural musicality through the remarkable Australian-developed simply music approach. Simply Music is a revolutionary piano and keyboard program that offers a breakthrough in music education. This unique method has children, teens, adults and seniors playing great sounding blues, classical, contemporary and accompaniment pieces from their very first lessons! This is all done through the lens of simply music's 'playing-based' approach. We temporarily delay the reading process focusing instead on developing a rapport with the instrument. We develop playing skills through building a large repertoire of 35-50 pieces in the first year or two at which time we gradually introduce music reading.
"Growing numbers of retirees are becoming Simply Music students. Many of them are taking up an endeavor widely known to help maintain healthy brain activity. They are also fulfilling a long-held dream of creative expression. The longer the dream is cocooned, the more profound the experience of finally realizing it."
Gordon Harvey, National Manager of Simply Music, Australia and Senior Teacher Trainer
What is simply music?
Simply Music is the largest playing-based music education institution in the world. Founded by Australian Educator, Neil Moore, Simply Music has grown into a worldwide organization dedicated to developing innovative programs, promising a world where everyone plays.
Our widely acclaimed music teaching programs are taught by more than 700 Licensed Educators to thousands of students throughout the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
The Simply Music approach focuses on the fun and sheer pleasure of playing music. The 'hands-on' nature of the program and the immediate results that are produced actively dispel the notion that learning to play the piano means enduring years of lessons, boring practice sessions and relentless hours of drills.
The overarching goal of Simply Music is "to maximize the likelihood of students acquiring and retaining music as a lifelong companion." The students will be acquiring the following skills:
The student will gain the ability to play a huge repertoire covering classical, popular, blues, jazz and accompaniments
The student will experience playing as a natural self-expression
The student will build a highly positive, self-affirming experience with music learning
The student will develop the ability to self-generate, (i.e. the ability to progress independently) and develop a strong foundation in music reading and theory.
